Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and
the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Muhammad Al Jasser, discussed
the implementation of joint projects in environmental protection and the
transition to green energy. The Head of State emphasized the importance of
these initiatives given the global environmental challenges and Kazakhstan's
commitment to sustainable development. Following the meeting, it was announced
that the parties had signed an agreement worth $1.153 billion, including a $3.5
million grant for the development of the country's water resources. Notably,
this is the largest financing project in the 51-year history of the bank.
«We are truly setting a precedent, and at
this summit, we are attracting the largest investments from the Islamic
Development Bank. This will enable us to build more than 3,500 new canals
across our country over the next three years. The project will cover about nine
regions of our country. In addition to irrigation canals and systems, we will
also reconstruct and build nine new reservoirs,» said Nurlan Baibazarov, Kazakh
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy.
The President of the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO), Salvatore Sciacchitano, congratulated Kazakhstan on its
impressive achievements in civil aviation. At a meeting with President Tokayev,
he stated his readiness to support further strengthening of cooperation to
ensure the safety and regularity of air transport. He also expressed his gratitude
for the opening of Kazakhstan's permanent representation at the Organization.
«We are working on a joint project that is
the master plan of aviation in Kazakhstan. Of course, we are here in COP29, and
we are reaffirming the commitment of the ICAO from one side and we know that there
is a commitment of Kazakhstan on the other side for decarbonization of civil
aviation where the goal is to reach the net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, and we
know that Kazakhstan is working very actively in this direction where another
short-time goal is five percent of CO2 emission reduction by 2030 thanks to the
use of the sustainable aviation fuels. And we know that Kazakhstan is fully committed
to this direction,» noted the President
of the ICAO Council Salvatore Sciacchitano.
