Kazakh President meets representatives of leading European companies

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with representatives of leading European companies. The Head of State and Executive Chairman of the Institute for Global Change Tony Blair discussed the implementation of large-scale reforms in Kazakhstan. The talks focused on the country’s political and socio-economic changes. President Tokayev also spoke about the ongoing reforms aimed at further advancing state institutions, improving governance efficiency, and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.


The Head of State also met with Philippe Pascal, CEO of Groupe ADP, to discuss prospects for the development of Almaty Airport and regional aviation infrastructure. President Tokayev praised the successful implementation of the company’s projects, including the construction of a new international terminal, which has increased the airport’s annual capacity to 14 million passengers. Philippe Pascal noted that, under the investment program, the figure could increase to 55 million by 2050. The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in the field of air travel.


President Tokayev met with Santiago Martínez-Lage Sobredo, Deputy Director General of Inditex Group. The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation and the expansion of the company’s presence in Kazakhstan. The Head of State welcomed Inditex’s plans to expand its operations in the country and contribute to Kazakhstan’s development as one of Central Asia’s key transport and logistics hubs.


The President also met with Eduard Sigrist, Senior Vice President of Mediterranean Shipping Company. The two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in transport and logistics, including the further development of the Middle Corridor.  Eduard Sigrist expressed the company’s readiness to invest in logistics terminals, rail assets, port infrastructure, and air cargo operations in Kazakhstan.
