Over two trillion tenge in investments have been attracted
to the Mangystau region’s economy over the past two years. During this period,
the gross regional product has increased by almost one and a half times. During
his working visit to the region, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting
on its development. The Head of State emphasized the strategic importance of
Mangystau as Kazakhstan’s western gateway and underscored the importance of
supporting small and medium-sized businesses. More than 16 billion tenge will
be allocated from the state budget for this purpose in 2025. The Mangystau
Business program will be launched to support 30 new projects worth 1.5 billion
tenge.
«The Aktau Seaport special economic zone (SEZ) should become
a center that gives an impetus to developing entrepreneurship in the region. Currently,
22 new projects are being implemented within its territory. Total investment in
the SEZ has reached 337 billion tenge, with half of that coming from foreign investors.
This year, there are plans to expand the SEZ’s area sevenfold - from 3,700 to
26,500 hectares. This is a good decision. The governor has also put forward
proposals regarding the SEZ,» Tokayev noted.
The Head of State also highlighted the region’s transport
and logistics potential. Mangystau is located at the crossroads of major
international transport corridors connecting East and West, North and South. The
maritime infrastructure of the Aktau and Kuryk ports is currently undergoing
active development, and they are among the main hubs of the Trans-Caspian
Transport Route. International logistics companies are showing interest in
investing in Kazakhstan’s transport sector. Therefore, the government, together
with the regional authorities, needs to strengthen its work with foreign
businesses.
«This year, the repair of the Kuryk-Zhetybay highway will be
completed. It is necessary to develop transport potential in the direction of Turkmenistan.
I instruct that, starting this year, repairs begin on road sections from
Zhanaozen to Turkmenistan’s border via Kendirli. Work has also begun on the
reconstruction and modernization of railway stations. A total of 125 railway
stations are scheduled for renovation across the country, including those in
Mangystau, Beineu, and Shetpe,» Tokayev added.
