Kazakh President discusses cooperation development at meetings in Astana

As part of the Astana International Forum (AIF), President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Nuriddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan. They discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, noting that Kazakhstan has every opportunity to increase the supply of agricultural products and chemical industry goods. Nuriddin Azizi expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s efforts in promoting Afghanistan’s interests in international organizations and for providing humanitarian assistance.

During a meeting with Patrick Warnking, Vice President of Google for Central and Eastern Europe, the Head of State emphasized the company’s significant contribution to the country’s digital transformation. President Tokayev outlined Kazakhstan’s strategic goal to become the largest digital hub in Eurasia. In turn, Patrick Warnking commended the country’s progress in the digital sphere.

Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), also highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant achievements. In 2024, the country improved its position in the Global Innovation Index. The Head of State noted that a National Innovation Strategy is being developed that includes an intellectual property component.

President Tokayev discussed prospects for strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe with the organization’s Secretary General, Alain Berset. The Head of State emphasized the country’s commitment to deepening cooperation and informed about the implementation of a large-scale political reform program aimed at building a Just Kazakhstan.

President Tokayev also met with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The parties have successfully completed 27 projects, with another 14 currently underway. These initiatives focus on the sustainable development of agricultural land, aquaculture, and soil resource management. The FAO Director-General highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant role in ensuring global food security and providing humanitarian assistance.
