Kazakh President arrives in Turkmenistan to participate in UN conference

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. At the airport, Tokayev was welcomed by Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. They held a brief conversation. The Head of State noted that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is showing positive momentum. He also emphasized that hosting such a significant forum with the personal involvement of the UN Secretary-General is a testament to Turkmenistan’s high international standing, built over 30 years of a policy of positive neutrality. Berdimuhamedov praised the special nature of Kazakh-Turkmen relations. Both sides underlined that their nations attach great importance to further strengthening friendship and good-neighborliness.
