Agriculture is under special control, as emphasized by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting with the country’s agricultural producers. This sector is a state priority, ensuring both food security and opportunities to increase export potential. The Head of State noted that last year’s harvest was a record one, and high expectations are placed on this year as well. Farmers are effectively applying agricultural technologies, while the state provides them with systemic support.
«The use of agricultural technologies has reached a new level, resulting in higher yields. Earlier, I set the task of doubling the volume of gross agricultural output. Active efforts are underway in this direction, and the pace must not be slowed down. It is necessary to continue diversifying crop areas with a focus on cultivating profitable, high-margin crops,» Tokayev said.
It is necessary not only to harvest on time but also
to pay close attention to crop preservation. President Tokayev emphasized the
need to launch a special concessional financing program for the modernization
of grain elevators, as well as for the entire 2026 sowing campaign. Livestock
farming will also remain in focus. By year-end, a development program for the
sector will be prepared, providing for long-term state support. And of course, the
Head of State stressed the importance of introducing digitalization in
agriculture.
«We can ensure transparency and efficiency across all sectors of the economy only through full digitalization. I focused on this issue in my state-of-the-nation address. The introduction of digital technologies in agriculture should be accelerated. To fully monitor processes in crop production and livestock farming, digital approaches must be applied. In this work, it is important to establish cooperation with IT businesses,» Tokayev added.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s
agricultural producers will have the opportunity to share best practices and
discuss effective solutions.
The
second Agroforum will take place in
Astana in
November.
