Kazakhstan – A trendy destination for lovers of open spaces and slow tourism

Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly popular among those who enjoy open spaces and slow-paced tourism. Forbes Italia has included the country in its list of trending destinations for 2025. The article highlights the direct flight between Astana and Milan, which fosters tourist traffic and enhances logistics between the two countries. The diversity of local cuisine is also noted as a significant advantage. Earlier, Lonely Planet, the world’s leading travel guide publisher, named Kazakhstan one of the best travel destinations this year, while Almaty was featured in CNN Travel’s list of the most attractive places to visit.

«I believe that this inclusion in the list is well-deserved. Earlier, Euronews, in outlining its trends for 2025, noted the growing demand for slow tourism. The publication also highlighted another promising trend—astrotourism. In line with these trends, Kazakh Tourism will focus on developing these areas. We are also working on expanding railway routes. Recently, we launched a route between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and similar projects are being developed for other regions,» said Daniyel Serzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed which regions of Kazakhstan are most attractive to foreign tourists. Kazakh Tourism analyzed data from over 525,000 accommodation establishments processed through the «eQonaq» information system. The study shows that Almaty remains the top destination for foreign tourists, with the city welcoming more than 534,000 visitors last year. Astana ranks second, hosting half as many travelers as Almaty. The Almaty Region comes in third, with a 60% increase in the number of foreign tourists.
