Kazakh President, Czech PM hold talks

A welcome ceremony was held at Akorda for the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Andrej Babiš introduced the members of their respective delegations. The national anthems of both countries were performed.

After the official ceremony, talks were held. The two sides discussed opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in industry, transport and logistics, digitalization, agriculture, and healthcare. Tokayev emphasized that the Czech Republic is one of Kazakhstan’s key trade partners in the European Union. He noted that the two countries have significant potential to further strengthen their relations.

«As to trade, the tendency, the trend are very good, are very positive. And of course, we will be engaging in facilitating our trade. Today, the Czech companies, almost more than 190 companies are active in Kazakhstan, including such flagship investors like Škoda, Omnipol, Tatra, ZVVZ. And please be sure that here in Kazakhstan, you will find out very reliable partners,» Tokayev said.

Babiš congratulated Tokayev on the successful referendum on adopting a new Constitution and also praised Kazakhstan’s achievements across various sectors.

«First of all, we have discussed energy. We, of course, are very much interested on the long term for supply of crude oil. Of course, Kazakhstan is the biggest producer of uranium in the world, and our strategy in energy is nuclear power plant,» Babiš said.

The President of Kazakhstan accepted Babiš’s invitation to visit the Czech Republic. Tokayev awarded the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic the Order of Dostyk, First Class, for his significant contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
