Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this during his speech at the solemn ceremony
honoring media professionals in anticipation of the Day of Media Workers.
«First and foremost, I sincerely
congratulate you on the Day of Media Workers! Journalism is a prestigious
profession centered on advocating for truth and justice. Therefore, media
professionals always command great respect. Our common goal is to build a Just
Kazakhstan, a country of equal opportunities for all. I express deep gratitude
to media specialists for their challenging work. Alikhan Bokeikhanuly once
stated: «Publishing newspapers and magazines requires great skill.» This
requirement applies to the entire information sphere. Overall, journalists play
a pivotal role in explaining state policies,» Tokayev said.
Journalists significantly
contribute to the comprehensive explanation of important initiatives. According
to the Head of State, all reforms in the country involve their participation,
directly shaping the new quality of the nation and national ideas. He also
underscored the crucial role of journalists in explaining government policies.
Acting as a bridge between the authorities and the people, they foster
parliamentary development and the eradication of social ills. The Kazakh
President also highlighted the legislative protection of the media, which provides

«Recently, I have signed a very
important document, the law on mass media, which enhanced mechanisms for
protecting the rights and interests of journalists. I am convinced this
document will increase the potential of domestic media and strengthen their
information independence,» Tokayev added.
The Head of State emphasized the
wide range of the media’s tasks. Domestic journalists have the potential to
contribute to shaping a high environmental consciousness and a culture of
responsible environmental stewardship within society. Another important mission
is to provide citizens with comprehensive information about economic
development. He underscored that journalism is not merely a profession but a
calling.
«The media serves as the voice of
the people, the herald of the nation, and the spiritual pillar of society. The

no doubt that most of you are genuine patriots and highly skilled professionals
committed to your country. You carry out your mission with honor,» Tokayev
emphasized.
