Commander-in-Chief of the Air
Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan Dauren Kossanov reported on the
development of military aviation during a press briefing emphasizing the high
level of training among the flight, engineering and technical personnel of the
Kazakh army. According to Kossanov, this year, flight crews have enhanced their

average figure exceeding 40 hours per pilot. Specialists in the engineering and
technical service also honed their skills by conducting exercises to test the
capabilities of various weapons and military equipment. Relevant units of the country’s
armed forces participated in over 30 tactical and operational training events. Besides,
Dauren Kossanov described efforts to update air defense systems and the
aircraft fleet in line with the rearmament program. Thus, the Kazakh army has
been augmented with C-295 military transport aircraft, Mi-35 and Mi-171Sh transport
and combat helicopters, as well as Anka combat drones.
“Another battery of Tor-M2 is
expected to arrive by the end of the year. Early next year, we will be
supplemented with a battery of the Tor-M2K air defense missile system, the
A400M Atlas military transport aircraft as well as six Su-30SM aircraft, which
are now considered the best multirole combat aircraft in the world,” said
Kossanov.
