Kazakh PM participates in meeting of CIS Council of Heads of Government in Moscow

To increase the throughput capacity of the CIS countries - this is the goal set by the Concept for interfacing the main transport arteries of the Commonwealth, developed by Kazakhstan. The country’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced this at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Moscow. The document has been sent to the Executive Committee of the Organization. Kazakhstan is confident that the Commonwealth plays a special role in transcontinental flows, particularly in the «West-East» and «North-South» directions. Moreover, their expansion is an important factor for the development of economic cooperation between the CIS member states. Currently, a quarter of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade is with the markets of CIS countries, Bektenov noted. He emphasized the need for a systematic identification and removal of barriers to trade development. Additionally, the interstate program «Commonwealth Fair», initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is also aimed at strengthening economic ties between the countries. The meeting resulted in the signing of documents on cooperation in the development of civil shipbuilding, digital transformation of the transport complex, and other areas.
