Kazakh PM and Executive Vice President of Shell discuss oil and gas projects

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Executive Vice President of Shell Peter Costello discussed the prospects for increasing local content. In the near future, they will review the Local Content Development Program to increase the procurement of goods, works and services in the domestic market. The parties also discussed the progress of joint projects in the oil and gas sector, noting that maintaining oil and condensate production at a level of at least 11 million tonnes per year is a priority for the Karachaganak expansion project. To this end, they will ensure the timely commissioning of additional raw gas reinjection compressors. The construction of a gas processing plant with an annual capacity of four billion cubic meters, which is planned to be built at the expense of the shareholders, is under consideration as well. There are plans to build a gas processing plant for the large-scale development of the Kashagan field, which produced over 18 million tonnes of oil and around 12 billion cubic meters of gas last year.
