Soldiers of the National Guard congratulated 101-year-old
veteran Rzagul Baikeshev from Astana on the Victory anniversary. They marched
ceremoniously in front of his house, while the honor guard’s orchestra
performed wartime songs in his yard.
Baikeshev expressed his gratitude to the soldiers for their
respect and attention. At the age of 17, he went to the front, took part in the
battles near Rzhev, liberated Poland, Romania, and Hungary, and reached Berlin.
It is worth noting that such events have become a good tradition. As of the end
of January, there are 120 war veterans living in the country, six of whom
reside in Astana.
