A new collection of coins from the «Outstanding events and
people» series has been released in Kazakhstan. The coins are dedicated to the
800th anniversary of Joshy Khan. According to the country’s National Bank, the
new commemorative coins are made of gilded silver in denominations of 1,000,
2,000, and 5,000 tenge, as well as cupronickel.
«The design of the coins features an image of the Joshy Khan
monument, located in the Ulytau region. Joshy Khan was the eldest son of
Genghis Khan and the founder of the Joshy Ulus. The reverse side displays a
collage of Golden Horde coins. The coins vary in weight, diameter,
denomination, and mintage,» noted Dana Magauina, Chief Specialist of the Department
at the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
