Drivers, who violated traffic regulations more than five times in a year, may be banned from paying a fine with a 50 percent discount. Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to tighten responsibility for risky behavior on the roads. The department also intends to get a handle on those, who exceed the speed limit on country roads. The month of “Safe Road” started in Kazakhstan on July 18. During this time, the law enforcement officers have identified more than 46,000 traffic violations. More than 270 drivers were driving while being intoxicated. Over 200 road accidents killing 50 people and injuring 200 more were registered in the past week alone. Since the beginning of the year, the road accidents have claimed the lives of more than 1,000 Kazakh residents, including almost 100 children.
