In Kazakhstan, the Astana Hub international IT
startup technopark will be merged with the Park of Innovative Technologies. This
is outlined in the draft law on improving government support systems for the
innovation sector. This decision will enhance the effectiveness of the digital
ecosystem and allow for the scaling of Astana Hub’s experience. The members of
the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, approved the document
in the first reading. It also provides for the creation of a unified innovation
cluster, as well as ensuring a competitive selection process and assessing
effectiveness when co-financing venture funds. A separate block of amendments focuses
on the development of the platform - the single window of the national
innovation system.
«It aims to centralize access to all forms of
government support and unite science, business, innovators, and the state on a
single digital platform. A separate scientific portal has been developed,
featuring a database of scientists, publications, accreditations, research
institute profiles, awards, and grants. Thus, the single window covers the
entire lifecycle of an innovation project,» noted Kazakh Minister of Digital
Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev.
Exports of IT services by Astana Hub companies
amount to $480 million
The demand for domestic IT products is growing
every year, with the export of IT services from 500 resident companies of
Astana Hub reaching $480 million annually. Among the successful domestic
startups is a generative artificial intelligence model that creates videos
based on text prompts, which has attracted $16 million in capital investments. This
startup is a direct competitor to products from Open AI and Google.
Additionally, the EdTech startup CodiPlay, which covers 600 schools worldwide, has
been recognized by the UN for its achievements. Another innovative company,
Citix, utilizes blockchain technologies and has successfully entered the
markets of Türkiye and the Middle East.
