Kazakh companies will take part in building its
first nuclear power plant, with around $14 billion expected to be allocated for
the project. This is a preliminary estimate by the Atomic Energy Agency and may
change as design and cost documentation are finalized, the government reported.
According to the plan, the feasibility study will be completed by December,
with design and cost documents prepared next year. President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev has repeatedly stated that Kazakhstan should become a country with advanced
nuclear energy capabilities.
