Nur-Sultan will host this year’s BIZZ Awards. The prestigious international award, which is held annually, is given for achievements in business. This month the awards attracted 250 representatives of business communities from more than 50 countries. According to the experts, it is no coincidence that Nur-Sultan was chosen as the venue for this major event: the city presents great opportunity in such capacity because it covers all the needs and prospects for holding various major international events, having established itself as a business center in Central Asia. According to the experts, MICE has become a high priority tourism branch.
“Our main objective is to hold large conferences or forums in the city. I must add that business tourism is rapidly developing in our country. Today, the city houses a lot of five-star and four-star hotels of the popular chains. We have created all conditions for the development of business tourism. Exhibition buildings have also been erected. There is an international exhibition center EXPO. It is considered one of the largest in Central Asia. In 2021, 37 billion tenge (US$86.2 million) of investments were attracted for the development of tourism,” said Zhalgas Molzhigit, Deputy Chairperson of Astana Invest.
Domestic tourism is booming. Over the past year, it grew by almost 90 percent. And the flow of foreign tourists increased by 30 percent. According to experts, this year their number may reach one million people. The visa-free regime was restored with 74 countries, and by the end of the year this list may expand to 100.
