K. Tokayev: no need to involve international experts to investigate January events

Kazakh citizens will see big changes coming, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced, having casted his vote at the referendum. The Head of State stressed that the amendments, for which Kazakh people are voting today, imply large changes in the country’s public life. In addition, the president spoke about the investigation of the January events at the briefing. The case is being investigated very carefully, he explained.

“Now all available materials are published by the Prosecutor General’s Office. There is nothing to hide from our society. We do everything publicly and professionally. Therefore, there is no need to invite international experts. This work will continue. As for the list of the dead, it will be published and made public. As I stated, according to this list, we can say that this was a terrorist group, and many people died. They wanted to destroy our state structure with their actions. But there were also civilians who were innocent passers-by. In this regard, I want to say: we express our condolences and regret. All military personnel involved in actions against the civilian population will be held criminally liable,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.
