Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held several meetings in the Akorda Residence. He discussed the promotion of interreligious and interfaith dialogue with Patriarch Theophilus III of Jerusalem. The President expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guest for his participation in the Congress. The Patriarch, who takes part in the event for the third time, said he hopes that the outcomes of the Congress will provide clear benchmarks to further consolidate peace.
The Head of State also received Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh. The meeting participants noted that interfaith dialogue is an important tool in a joint search for ways to bring together the international community. President Tokayev also expressed confidence that the results of the Congress will lead to the joint resistance to global challenges and will make a significant contribution to strengthening of international harmony, peace and stability.
Besides that, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb for his participation in the forum. “In the dialogue between leaders of world and traditional religions, it is very important for us to have scholars of the center, which disseminates the principles of tolerance and restraint, patience and kindness,” the President emphasized.
