Judge’s digital assistant rollout nears completion in Kazakhstan

The implementation of an AI assistant for judges is nearing completion in Kazakhstan. The system was tested in courts of Astana and the Zhambyl, Karagandy, and Mangystau regions. It does not replace judges but performs analytical functions, working with documents in Kazakh and Russian, helping structure claims, reviewing case law, and predicting possible case outcomes based on similar decisions. The capabilities of the AI assistant have been upgraded. Previously, the system could process about four million data units, and now it can handle up to 15 million while simultaneously processing up to one thousand requests. Following successful use in civil proceedings, AI technologies are also being introduced into the administrative justice system.

«We have been using the digital assistant service for judges for a year and a half. Since the launch of the project, the number of cases reviewed by judges through settlement between the parties has significantly increased. It provides substantial assistance to judges in reviewing cases and obtaining information on similar cases. The digital assistant does not replace the judge but only helps them handle cases more efficiently and effectively,» noted Arman Mussayev, Deputy Head of the Digitalization Department, Judicial Administration of Kazakhstan.
