Kazakhstan is ready to export horse meat and horses to
Japan. Two Japanese companies have expressed interest in importing both meat
and live horses. One specializes in importing crop and livestock products,
while the other focuses on producing raw meat for sashimi, a traditional
Japanese dish. Negotiations between the parties were held in Astana. The Kazakh
Ministry of Agriculture noted that 47 entities are registered in the export
registry of domestic enterprises authorized to export to Japan.
«The Kazakh side emphasized its readiness to provide
comprehensive support for exports. The parties underscored the importance of
information exchange and strict adherence to international standards. As of
today, veterinary and sanitary requirements, along with the forms of veterinary
certificates for the export of horse meat from Kazakhstan to Japan, have been
agreed upon,» said Merei Baimuratov, Chief Expert of the Department of Veterinary
Control and Supervision Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.
France is also interested in importing horse meat from
Kazakhstan. Last year, a relevant agreement was signed between companies from
both countries. Notably, Kazakhstan sold approximately 6,500 horses for nearly
$2 million in the previous year. The majority were supplied to Uzbekistan.
Additionally, horses were purchased by Afghanistan, Germany, the UAE and the
U.S.
