Investment in Astana’s economy exceeds 2 trillion tenge

The Kazakh capital is developing rapidly. Its short-term economic indicator has exceeded 118.5 percent, the highest figure in the country. According to Astana mayor Zhenis Kassymbek, all sectors of the economy are developing in the metropolis. As a result, the capital remains attractive to investors. Since the beginning of the year, the volume of investment has exceeded two trillion tenge, which is almost a quarter higher than in 2024. Of this amount, 66 percent accounts for private investment.

«Small and medium-sized businesses remain the backbone of the city’s economy, providing 70 percent of jobs. A total of 3.9 million square meters of housing has been commissioned in the city, and this figure is expected to reach five million square meters by the end of the year,» Zhenis Kassymbek noted.

Special attention is being paid to the development of the city’s infrastructure. This year, the third pumping and filtration station, gas-fired thermal stations, and an electrical substation were commissioned. The mayor also spoke in detail about the development of Astana’s road and transport infrastructure. In 2025, 14 kilometers of new roads were built and around 60 kilometers were repaired as part of improvement efforts. In addition, the construction of multi-level high-speed transit roads is planned in the capital.

«The slides show how this issue is being addressed in Southeast Asia, in many capitals such as Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Manila. We are moving on to the design phase for several key arterial high-speed transit roads and multi-level interchanges. The year 2026 will be dedicated specifically to design work. In 2027, we plan to begin implementation, with the first project to be launched along Kabanbay Batyr Street,» Zhenis Kassymbek added.
