The Astana Opera’s
tour in Moscow has wrapped up. Kazakh artists delivered a full house
performance as part of the See the Music VIII festival of musical theaters,
presenting Gioacchino Rossini's legendary opera, ‘The Silk Staircase’, to a
sophisticated audience. This delightful comedy production was performed by
renowned artists and graduates of the Astana Opera International Opera Academy.
It is noteworthy that the premiere of the play took place in 2019. Since then,
the opera has become a standout production for the country’s main theater,
which is included in the tour program both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
“Rossini's play ‘Silk Staircase’,
which has been produced by the Astana Opera Theatre’s project Piccolo Theater,
is aimed at establishing very close contact with the audience. Thus, the stage
of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre perfectly aligns with our play’s
intention for the connection between artists and spectators,” Abzal Mukhitdin,
Astana Opera’s conductor, said.
“The play is really interesting due
to the short length, talented directing, and vibrant costumes. It features
small decorations and the number of people involved in it is not that large,
which makes it perfect for touring,” said Yevgeniy Chainikov, Astana
Opera’s leading soloist.
