Tourism is increasingly becoming one of the key drivers of Kazakhstan’s economy. Last year, the sector contributed 5 trillion tenge to GDP, while tax revenues exceeded 630 billion tenge. Foreign visitors spent nearly $3 billion in the country, reflecting growing interest in Kazakhstan’s tourist destinations. Alongside the increase in tourist flows, with over 15 million international travelers arriving in Kazakhstan last year, investment activity is also rising. More than 300 tourism projects are currently being implemented nationwide, with a total value of around 1.3 trillion tenge. These projects include the construction of international-standard hotels, the development of resort areas, and improvements to transport and service infrastructure. Particular emphasis is placed on ecological tourism. Last year alone, Kazakhstan’s national parks were visited by 3.7 million people. Event and business tourism are also priorities; they not only attract visitors but also create new jobs, contributing to regional development and the growth of small and medium-sized businesses.
«Convention and business
tourism is among the sectors with strong export potential. Last year,
Kazakhstan hosted 13 international events that brought around $18 million to
the economy. One of the promising areas contributing to the sector’s growth is
medical tourism. Kazakhstan’s key advantage lies in the combination of
high-quality services and affordable prices. Last year, the country welcomed
around 80,000 foreign patients,» said
Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Kazakh Minister of
Tourism and
Sports.
