Kazakhstan’s greening campaign is well
underway. In Shymkent, despite the winter season, coniferous trees are being
planted. According to ecologists, planting is possible at subzero temperatures,
particularly for spruces, pines, and fir trees. A thousand saplings have been
planted in the city, with half of them in the dendrological park. By the end of
the year, an additional 500 trees are expected to adorn the city. Over a
hundred concerned residents of the metropolis are participating in this noble
initiative, having joined forces and divided responsibilities among themselves.
Some are focused on identifying suitable locations for future alleys, while
others are searching for additional types of saplings.
«We, as young activists and
eco-enthusiasts, have taken the initiative to continue this work: developing
parks, greening the city, and uniting its residents around this idea. Everyone
involved in the project brings their children along, aiming to set an example
for their families and other city residents,» said Shymkent city resident Ali
Vodolatsky.
«I also decided to join the project
because, as residents of the city, it is our duty to care for nature. The
arboretum is considered the heart of the city, so we must take care of it as
well,» shared Shymkent city resident Ruslan Gadelshin.
