Gender development issues were discussed at
the regular meeting of the Club of Experts under the Senate, the Upper House of
the Kazakh Parliament. Participants also presented thematic studies and shared
their cases and best practices in the fields of business, finance, politics,
and women’s rights protection. The Chairperson of the Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev,
highlighted key statistics, noting that women account for a significant portion
of the country’s population - over 10 million people. Therefore, ensuring their
safety and creating favorable conditions is an important contribution to the
country’s development.
«Much is being done on the initiative of
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, but at the same time, we still face issues
related to gender development. The gender gap remains a serious problem in this
regard. There are also challenges regarding women’s economic activity in rural
areas. Another issue is tied to the role of women in our society and the
stereotypes that persist today. To strengthen the role of women in our society,
in political institutions, and in managerial positions, as well as to ensure
their economic security and independence, it is essential to combat these
stereotypes,» noted Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate, the Upper
House of the Kazakh Parliament.
