The visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to New York has been described by political scientists as strategic. The Head of State held meetings with representatives of the world’s largest multinational corporations and international organizations. Kazakhstan is strengthening cooperation with global leaders in the oil and gas industry, while also discussing advanced technologies and the development of green energy. Political scientist Sultan Akimbekov emphasizes that these efforts are economically beneficial not only for Kazakhstan but for all of Central Asia. Another key focus of the visit was the development of transport corridors. Kazakhstan plans to reinforce its role as a logistics hub between East and West. In this regard, the Trans-Caspian route, also known as the Middle Corridor, connecting China to Europe through the Caspian Sea, holds particular importance. Amid trade conflicts and global instability, this route is becoming not only shorter but also safer, making it even more attractive.
«We are located in the heart of the continent, and for us the only real option is to ensure the widest possible access to seaports and, more broadly, to the main trade flows passing through our territory. We have the Middle Corridor, trade routes that run from China to Europe, as well as North–South routes. And if, in addition, we provide the necessary locomotives, then taken together this should generate a strong multiplier effect,» noted political scientist Sultan Akimbekov.
As part of the visit, 11 agreements and memorandums
were signed between major companies of Kazakhstan and the U.S., the Assistant and
Press Secretary of the President Ruslan Zheldibay reported. The documents
provide for investments of over $5 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy and cover
strategically important sectors such as transport, logistics, energy, and
information technology. Experts believe that this will not only have an
economic effect in the coming years, but also strengthen Kazakhstan’s long-term
position on the global stage.
