Albrecht Durer, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Rembrandt, Rene Magritte - Kazakh citizens are now presented with an opportunity to see the original works by these famous artists. Nur-Sultan hosts an international exhibition ‘Continent of Art.” It features artworks of both classical and contemporary artists. A total of 90 works by 22 artists from 15 countries were selected. Organizers say that in order to hold an exhibition of this scale in Kazakhstan and bring the original paintings here, they conducted negotiations for two years. The oldest artwork showcased at the exhibition dates back to 1510.
“This is the project we’ve been working on for a long time. I wanted to show how rich, how spiritual and diverse the culture of our continent is. It was very difficult to select the paintings on one side, but on the other side, it was very easy. We wanted to showcase the artworks of the European culture, and of course the art memorials. These include the works by Rembrandt, Durer, Picasso,Magritte, and the paintings by contemporary artists, which show how much the European culture has changed now. In order to get the works of Picasso, Durer and Rembrandt for exhibition in our gallery, we worked with private European collections, gallery collections,” said an organizer Leyla Mahat.
“Of course I am very happy that my works can also be presented alongside that of Magritte, Picasso and Rembrandt. Of course, it is a great pleasure for me to represent Moldova. All the works presented here were painted in Kazakhstan, because I currently live in Nur-Sultan. They are partly inspired by the Kazakh atmosphere,” shared Natalia Karagoz, a Moldovan Artist.
