The Qazaq Olymp Style exhibition
titled ‘From the Past to the Future’ has opened in Astana. Visitors will be
able to immerse themselves in the history of the Olympic movement in the country,
the creation of Kazakhstan’s national Olympic uniforms, unique victories, and
emotions experienced by Kazakh athletes at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Among the exhibits are the historical outfit of Sydney 2000 champion Olga
Shishigina, the uniform of the first-ever participant in the country’s history in
the Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics, Chingiz Rakparov, and a unique
canvas with the autographs of Kazakh athletes from the 1980 Olympics. According
to the organizers, not only will the exhibition serve as a historical guide to
the achievements of domestic athletes, but it will also inspire young Kazakhs
to new accomplishments.
“We managed to acquire some very rare photographs,
authentic pieces of sportswear. There is the original uniform and
running shoes of our Olympic champion Olga Rypakova, whose victory was
exceptional and unique. We also have photographs from Turin 2006 Winter
Olympics when Dolce & Gabbana themselves praised the uniform of our Olympic
athletes and captured that moment here as well,” said exhibition organizer Leya
Khamitova.
