An exhibition marking Defender of
the Fatherland Day and Victory Day opened in the Kazakh capital. It comprises
three sections with over 100 exhibits, showcasing materials reflecting the
heroic exploits of Kazakh soldiers, including Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev and
Sagadat Nurmagambetov. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the stages of
formation and development of the country’s Armed Forces. The centerpiece of the
exhibition is a compilation of unique samples of historical and modern firearms
from the Presidential Center’s collections. Guests have the chance to discover
the creations of renowned designers such as Colt, Browning, Federle, Stechkin,
and others. Additionally, they can view pistols and revolvers from the world’s
leading firearms manufacturers from Europe, the U.S., Russia, and Türkiye, as
well as antique items.
“The prototype of the first
pistols is the ancient Chinese wooden fire lance, first mentioned in 1259.
Earlier pistols were made in pairs, as they were single-shot weapons. The
evolution of pistols is further linked to Casimir Lefaucheux, who developed a
firearm with a revolving barrel capable of holding 5-6 cartridges. The early
prototypes of revolvers were called Bundle, also known as pepperboxes due to
their resemblance to pepper shakers. Additionally, we showcase the Mauser 98K
rifle from World War II, which was manufactured in 1935 and saw use in both
World War I and World War II,” said Anar Ospanova, senior expert at the
Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
