The 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Germany was celebrated with a festive concert. Kazakh musicians performed works by Akhmet Zhubanov, Latif Hamidi, Yevgeny Brusilovsky and Kazakh folk songs on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic. The German public enjoyed the unique sounds of dombyra, kobyz and zhetygen.
“The audience was amazing. They applauded loudly when they greeted the national performances in Kazakh traditional costumes. I’m very excited to be on this stage tonight because, first of all, there is an amazing audience and amazing acoustics. And today I was lucky enough to play two concerts. So, with all this fascinating atmosphere of today's concert, the presentation of this international orchestra promises a lot,” said Aiman Mussakhajayeva, People’s Artist of Kazakhstan.
“I first heard Kazakh music in 2009 when the year of Kazakhstan in Germany was declared. And that’s when I first saw your folk instruments. I liked the music so much and I thought I definitely needed the sheet music for your songs. I asked the musicians to send them to me. After that I started writing arrangements in the Kazakh style and organizing concerts in Stuttgart, and now also in Berlin,” shared the orchestra leader Erwin Muntaniol.
