Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been elected President of Kazakhstan. More than 81 percent of voters, or over 6 million people, cast their votes for him on November 20. The final results of the presidential election were announced by Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the Kazakh Central Election Commission.
“Pursuant to Article 9 Paragraph 1 and Article 65 of the Constitutional Law on Elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the candidate who has secured more than 50 percent of the polled vote wins the presidential election. Thus, the Central Election Commission registered Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan elected by the people. In accordance with the legislation, the Commission issues the corresponding certificate to the President,” he stated.
