China marks new year with grand celebration

In China, the New Year – one of the country’s most significant holidays – is celebrated on a grand scale. The festival, known as Chunjie, has arrived according to the lunar calendar. On New Year’s Eve, China Media Corporation broadcast its annual Spring Festival Gala, a large-scale show featuring top artists, comedy acts, circus performances, acrobatics, traditional martial arts demonstrations, and much more. People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Dimash Qudaibergen also performed at the festival. The live broadcast took place from the main stage in Beijing and four additional locations. This year, the gala introduced an innovative blend of technology and folk art, showcasing the Er Ren Zhuan dance with performers alongside robots.

China Media Corporation’s Spring Festival Gala achieved a new viewership record this year, with preliminary data showing over 2.817 billion people tuned in.
