Central Asian region in spotlight of foreign researchers

The Central Asian region is actively developing. Progress has been particularly noticeable in recent years, according to British scholar and bestselling author Peter Frankopan. The Oxford professor of Global History visited Almaty, where he presented his book titled «The Earth Transformed: An Untold History» in Kazakh and Russian. The scientist has been studying the region for over 30 years and highlights its significance both in the past and in the modern world. According to the writer, there is growing interest in Central Asia across all fields, including from the scientific community.

«Central Asia was a part of the world that did not get written about very much. I did not read much about it at school. But the more I started to learn about it even when I was a teenage boy the more it seemed not only was Silk Roads and the cities and the cultures interesting but also extremely important. There are 13,000 academic papers published about Central Asia in the last 30 years,» said Peter Frankopan, Professor of Global History at Oxford University.
