CEC finalizes registration of party lists

Registration of party lists for the upcoming Kurultai elections is nearing completion, with the process officially set to close at 6 p.m. on July 23. To date, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered the lists of political parties, including Respublica, Aq Jol, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party, Baytaq, and the People’s Party of Kazakhstan. The People’s Party has nominated 72 candidates, with women, young people, and persons with disabilities accounting for nearly 42% of the list, fully meeting the legal quota requirements. According to the CEC, all candidates have been verified for compliance with the requirements of the Constitution and the Law on Elections. The People’s Party is also exempt from paying the election deposit after securing more than 5% of the vote in the previous Mazhilis elections.

«Our party list includes professionals from virtually every key sector in Kazakhstan. These are not populist theorists but experienced practitioners with the highest levels of expertise and education. Among our candidates are doctors of science, master’s degree holders, professors, distinguished teachers, Honored Figures of Kazakhstan, honorary builders, honorary lawyers, recipients of state prizes and state honors, as well as participants in the «100 New Faces of Kazakhstan» project,» said Nursultan Shokanov, Chairman of the People’s Party of Kazakhstan.

The number of candidates nominated by the Baytaq Green Party of Kazakhstan for the Kurultai has also been announced. The party will field 47 candidates in the upcoming elections. The CEC also reported that Baytaq has paid 70% of the required election deposit. The reduced deposit applies to political parties that secured more than 2% of the vote in the elections to the Mazhilis of the eighth convocation.

«Our party list includes 18 candidates who are women, young people, and persons with disabilities, accounting for a combined 38.3% of the total. The quota established by law has been fully met. All candidates on the party list comply with the requirements of the Constitution and the Constitutional Law on Elections,» said Azamatkhan Amirtayev, Chairman of the Baytaq Green Party of Kazakhstan.
