A book about Alikhan Bokeikhan was presented in Moscow. He was a prominent Kazakh public figure and statesman, one of the leaders of the Alash party. Before that, the edition was presented in five Kazakh cities – in Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Semei and Karagandy. It was written by Russian scientist Victor Kozodoi, who included archival documents, memoirs and memories of contemporaries in his work. According to him, Alikhan Bokeikhan could be considered a public and political figure not only of Kazakhstan, but also of Russia, as he was elected to the State Duma, and was involved in the work of all-Russian organizations. The book has already been translated into Kazakh.
“He was a fascinating person. It is almost impossible to study the history of Siberia without studying such a powerful movement as Alash. When we talk about this, the first person who comes to mind is Alikhan Bokeikhan. He did a lot of things, solved many problems of subjectivity of Kazakhstan, and in fact, was the forerunner, who paved the way for the independence of Kazakhstan,” Kozodoi noted.
At the presentation, Kazakh Ambassador to Russia Yermek Kosherbayev reminded that many aspects of the Alash movement are not disclosed in the context of the restoration of historical justice. The same work made a significant contribution to the study of historical events that prefigured the independence of Kazakhstan. Kosherbayev awarded the 2nd degree Order of Dostyk to Victor Kozodoi, to whom he also gave the gratitude of the Kazakh President.
