Astana is hosting the Days of
Kyrgyz Cinema. The film week opened with the screening of ‘The peyish. Paradise
under the feet of a mother’ by Ruslan Akun. The story tells about the driving
force of love between family members. The plot revolves around Adil who has a
mental disorder and dreams to take his mother to the holy city of Mecca. It is
worth noting that the movie was mostly filmed in Kazakhstan and premiered in
major cities of both countries at the end of March. According to
representatives of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission, the screening of Kyrgyz films
is scheduled as part of an upcoming visit of President Sadyr Japarov to Astana.
“The relationship between
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is alliance-based across all spheres, including
cultural, humanitarian, trade, economic, and political. Central to this integration
are primarily our brotherly relations and neighborly friendship. The Days of
Culture of Kyrgyzstan, held in Kazakhstan in 2022 with the participation of the
President, underscored the strength of our relations,” said Kyrgyz Ambassador
to Kazakhstan Dastan Dyushekeyev.
A series of other forthcoming events
were also discussed at the film presentation. All of them indicate the robust
and dynamic relationship between the two fraternal states.
“At the end of March, Kyrgyz Cinema
Days were held in the city of Almaty. April anticipates a number of large-scale
film events, including the opening of an exhibition dedicated to Manas and a
roundtable discussion involving aksakals (elders) and creative intellectuals
from both countries. We will also organize a concert featuring Kazakh and
Kyrgyz performers, as well as an exhibition showcasing Kyrgyz applied arts in
Astana,” noted Kumis Seitova, chairwoman of the culture committee at the Kazakh
Ministry of Culture and Information.
