Awarding ceremony for ‘Altyn Tugyr’ national prize held in Astana

The traditional ceremony of presenting the Altyn Tugyr national sports award was held in the Kazakh capital. The event identified not only the strongest players in their sport but also their coaches, among which is Kalibek Kuanuly, a chief coach in Assyk Atu of the Pavlodar region. According to him, getting the title of the best in his field is a great honor and the result of hard work. This year, the team of players from the region has shown excellent achievements by winning a number of international and national awards.

“This year, six athletes have received the Master of Sports title in our region. The national team included 15 athletes, both juniors and adults. The region’s national team comprises more than 200 players. In addition, over 2,000 residents of the region attend Assyk Atu sections,” said Kuanuly.

The Altyn Tugyr annual award ceremony is held for the 10th anniversary in the current year. Kazakhstan’s Association of National Sports includes 10 federations, thus, the winners were identified in 10 nominations at once. These are Kokpar, Bayge, Audaryspak, Zhamby Atu, Tenge Ilu, Assyk Atu, Togyzkumalak, Kusbegi, Zhoryk, and traditional archery. Athletes are currently ready to reach the world level.

“National sports are actively developing in the country. Everyone knows that the 5th World Nomad Games will be held in Astana next year with the anticipated participation of the Kazakh President. We are doing a lot of preparation. This is a great honor and responsibility for us,” said Islambek Salzhanov, President of the National Sports Association of Kazakhstan.

In the current year, the Kazakh national sports team has taken part in 12 international competitions, winning about 100 medals, of which 35 were gold. At the same time, the popularity of traditional games in which nowadays over 500,000 Kazakh people are professionally engaged is growing in the country.
