Audaryspak horseback wrestling – revival of national games

Audaryspak or horseback wrestling classes in Turkistan region train endurance, strength and flexibility. This type of Kazakh national sports game is becoming more and more popular. Almas Maratov says that he has long dreamed of learning the proper technique of audaryspak. After all, since the purpose of the competition is to wrestle an opponent to the ground, you should not only be a good rider, but also possess enormous power to win the game.

“You need to have strong forearms. This is a crucial factor. You also need to be able to use your knees for balance and sit on a horse properly. The main thing is to have a strong spirit to not be afraid of anyone or anything,” said student Almas Maratov.

The coach’s name is Tuimebek Zhumaliyev. He is one of the finest in this sport. He became the champion of the country and Asia in audaryspak several times.

“I am pleased to see that traditional games are gradually revived and audaryspak becomes popular among young boys. We are happy when new students come. Our classes are tough. We focus not only on physical training, but also teach tactical thinking skills. You need to train to be strong and flexible,” coach of the national sports school in Turkistan region, Tuimebek Zhumaliyev, said.

The region has classes on other traditional sports, including horseback riding game kokpar, Kazakh wrestling, assyk atu and togyz kumalak games.
