Astana Opera theater opens its 10th anniversary season. The preparations continued for more than half a year. The team prepared several unique premieres to the delight of high art connoisseurs.
“Our audience will be presented with the opera ‘Kalkaman’ by Kazakh composer Balnur Kydyrbek, as well as Prokofiev's ballet ‘Cinderella’. We are also going to show our new operas, including the children's opera ‘Kanbak Shal’, in the chamber hall. So, here are our plans for this season,” Opera Company Director Azamat Zheltyrguzov said.
The theater prepared one more surprise for the residents and guests of the Kazakh capital. World-renowned soprano and Grammy award winner Sumi Jo will perform on stage with a gala opera. This is not her first visit to Astana Opera as she already performed there 10 years ago. She is glad to sing to Kazakh audience again along with such domestic artists as Azamat Zheltyrguzov, Medet Chotabayev and Tatyana Vitsinskaya.
“It is a great honor for me to perform at the opening of Astana Opera’s anniversary season. I’m well acquainted with the theater team, with my talented colleagues and opera stars. I’m really glad I received this invitation, and I’d like to meet the audience on this stage more often,” South Korean opera singer Sumi Jo shared.
It bears noting that the event was organized as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan.
