Astana hosts photo exhibition titled ‘The UN and I’

Unique stories of the destinies of numerous people living in Kazakhstan who have contributed to the country’s development on the path of sustainable development were presented at a special photo exhibition in Astana. The event called ‘The UN and I’ brought together 30 inspiring biographies of students, social workers, doctors, entrepreneurs and public servants of the country. Each picture depicts an example of heroic activities reminding of the incredible resilience and strength of the human spirit, UN Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Storey emphasized.

“This exhibition is a snapshot of some of the work that we are doing as the United Nations in Kazakhstan. It captures the stories of 30 beneficiaries, ordinary men, women, boys and girls, across all regions to see how we, as the United Nations, have impacted their life to reach the sustainable development goals,” said Friberg-Storey.

Among the heroes of the exhibition is Assem Tazhiyeva, a young businesswoman working in the IT field. She has developed a social project called ‘Ozim Platform’. This is a unique mobile application for the early development of children, including kids with special needs. The digital product serves as a guide for parents, providing knowledge about child development stages and adaptation in society.

“As a beneficiary of UN Women, I participated in the UN Women acceleration program in 2023 and entered the top five female entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan. This program provides more knowledge in investments and product scaling. We have developed programs together with UNICEF. The UN has granted our startup a status known as Digital Public Goods which are available for various countries,” Tazhiyeva said.
