As chair of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kazakhstan is enhancing the SCO’s
global role, as noted by leaders of strategic research institutes in Central
Asia. They highlight that the country has taken on a mission to advance several
key areas, including ensuring security, expanding trade and economic relations,
fostering cultural and humanitarian ties, strengthening energy cooperation, and
engaging in digital and environmental spheres. Kazakhstan is also promoting the
development of transport connectivity among SCO member states, which could
significantly boost economic growth across the entire region. Overall, analysts
believe that the country aims to be one of the driving forces in deepening
cooperation among SCO states and to contribute to the attraction of new
members. By assuming the chairmanship, Astana demonstrates its multifaceted
diplomacy, promoting interests that span the entire region and continent.
«To date, the SCO
is emerging as one of the largest alliances in Eurasia. The significant
attention from numerous states towards this organization indicates that the SCO
is on the right path. Kazakhstan’s chairmanship is making a substantial
contribution towards achieving many ambitious goals, which we fully support. We
also wish great success in the practical implementation of all agreements to be
adopted during the SCO Summit in Astana,» said Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the
International Institute for Central Asia.
«Tajikistan
acknowledges Kazakhstan’s valuable contribution as the SCO chair this year.
There has been a significant focus on sustainable development, including
environmental issues, with numerous events held in Kazakhstan as well as in
various other SCO member countries. I would like to highlight Kazakhstan’s
prominent role in implementing a comprehensive vision for the development
prospects of the SCO member states,» said Khayriddin Usmonzoda, Director of the
Center for Strategic Research under the President of Tajikistan.
