Members of ethno-cultural associations and public organizations are confident that the fight against floods vividly demonstrated the unity of the people. The ability to stand shoulder to shoulder and jointly confront the natural disaster indicates the compassion and civic responsibility of Kazakh citizens, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed. According to representatives of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK), such events serve as prominent examples of courage and selflessness that should form the basis of educating the younger generation.
“During the difficult flood
control period, together with rescuers and volunteers, our ethnic and cultural
associations are engaged in collecting and delivering humanitarian aid. We
witnessed the cohesion of our people. In the period of floods, the unity
allowed us to mobilize quickly and find the right solution,” said Yuri Shin, Deputy
Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.
“It is no coincidence that from
the first days of the floods, we launched the Zhurekten Zhurekke (from heart to
heart) campaign. The Assembly members always strive to be with the people and
respond promptly to challenges. Overall, 12,000 APK volunteers rushed to help
Kazakh citizens and have been on the front lines all the time. Now there will
be the restoration work of all that the disaster has taken away, and it will
require the same unity and solidarity,” said Timur Dzhumurbayev, Chairman of the
Zhastary Assembly association.
