Air ambulance service rapidly developing in Kazakhstan

The development of the air ambulance service in Kazakhstan is reaching a new level. All free emergency medical care is now provided through the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine. The center houses a helipad and a hangar for medical aviation, enabling the prompt transfer of patients from any region of the country. In the first half of the year alone, the center carried out over 1,000 flights. Additionally, five international patient transfers were conducted, bringing critically ill patients from Türkiye, South Korea, Germany, Egypt, and Vietnam. Since the center opened, approximately 3,000 patients have received treatment.

«Our aircraft fleet includes 11 AN-2 planes, which fly within the regions from districts to regional centers. In addition, there are 16 helicopters operated by  Kazaviaspas airline, comprising MI-8 and Eurocopter-145 models. Specifically for transplantation purposes, we transport both organs and the medical teams who perform the procedures,» said Yerzhan Adilbekov, Chairman of the Board of the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine in Astana.

The center provides medical assistance across 29 specialties - from general surgery and neurosurgery to obstetrics. Patients treated here include citizens from the U.S., South Korea, the Czech Republic, and other countries. Recently, the first baby was born at the facility. Doctors see this as a good sign: it not only saves lives but also brings new life into the world.
