ABC books reintroduced in school curriculum

Kazakhstan reintroduced the alphabet book in the school curriculum. After five years, the little school students will return to this textbook in September this year. The final version of the ABC book was analyzed and approved by scientists and educational specialists. They assure that the main feature of the textbook is the combination of modern technologies and methodological approaches.

This ABC book was developed on the basis of the teaching method of our great teacher Akhmet Baitursynov, that is, from simple to complex. First, children learn letters and sounds, then syllables and then move on to words and to composing the whole sentences,¨ said Yeldos Nurlanov, Director of the National Scientific and Practical Center for Expertise of Educational Content.

Last year, despite distance learning, ABCs were tested in 65 schools across the country. They are currently being published. Textbooks will be prepared and sent to schools by mid-August. The ABC Book is intended for the first two terms of the school year, while in the remaining terms the children will study the ‘Literacy Training’ program.
