7.5 million foreign tourists visit Kazakhstan in six months

Kazakh citizens prefer to travel domestically. In the first half of the year, nearly four million people went on domestic tours - 500,000 more than a year earlier. The country also welcomed 7.5 million foreign tourists. By the end of 2024, the number of domestic tourists exceeded 6 million, while the inflow of foreign visitors surpassed 15 million - almost twice as many as in 2023. These figures were announced in Astana at a roundtable on the development of domestic tourism. Participants emphasized that the sector is currently among the most dynamic in the global economy, making it crucial for Kazakhstan to create favorable conditions for investors, businesses, and travelers. Priority tasks include modernizing tourism infrastructure, training specialists, developing digital services, and expanding transport accessibility.

«This year, following the instructions of the Head of State, a comprehensive plan has been adopted covering the Mangystau region and the Shchuchinsk-Burabai resort area. The Zaisan, Katon-Karagai airport is under construction in the East Kazakhstan region, along with the Kendirli airport in the Mangystau region. Once these airports are commissioned, new domestic and international routes will be introduced. For Katon-Karagai and Zaisan, together with the Ministry of Transport, we also plan to launch new flights to Russia and China,» noted Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
