A new record has been set in Kazakhstan,
where 5,000 performers played the dombyra simultaneously in the Zhetisu region.
The large-scale event was held to mark the Day of the Kazakh national musical
instrument. Both professional musicians and amateurs of
all ages took part in the «Ukili Dombyra» gathering. Participants performed
kuis (traditional compositions) by Baktybai, as well as Abdimomyn Zheldibayev’s
«Yerke Sylkym.» Throughout the week, the region will continue to host
celebrations, including exhibitions, concerts, and creative evenings dedicated
to Kazakh art.
«The first event of this kind took place in
Atyrau, where 1,037 people gathered. Later in Oral, there were 1,700
participants, and more than 3,000 joined in Astana, Turkistan, and Rudny.
Today, the largest performance was recorded in Taldykorgan. We recognize this
as a national record, and it will be included in the next edition of Kazakhstan’s
Book of Records,» said Bakhytzhan Tastulekov, official representative of
Kazakhstan’s Book of Records.
