Investments in the fishery sector are growing in
Kazakhstan. Last year, more than 4.5 billion tenge were allocated to the
development of the industry. In the first 11 months, the volume of the fish
products market reached 77,000 tonnes, which is 10% higher than a year earlier.
A total of 38,500 tonnes of fish were caught in the country, while another
nearly 21,000 tonnes were produced through aquaculture. According to the
Ministry of Agriculture, 72 processing enterprises with a total annual capacity
of about 120,000 tonnes are operating in the country, 20 of which are
authorized to export to European Union countries. Overall, domestic fish
products are supplied to 21 countries, including Germany, the Netherlands,
Russia, and China. To further develop the sector, state support measures are
provided, including VAT reductions, preferential lending, and the modernization
of hatcheries.
