Kazakhstan will be represented by 35 athletes at the 25th Winter Olympic Games, which will take place in Italy later this year. According to Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov, the national team will compete for 58 medal sets across 10 sports, including biathlon, speed skating, figure skating, short track speed skating, alpine skiing, Nordic combined, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, as well as moguls and aerial freestyle skiing. The government has allocated more than 13 billion tenge for Olympic preparations. In addition, 13 leading international coaching consultants have been engaged to work with Kazakh athletes in disciplines such as figure skating, speed skating, cross-country skiing, short track, and biathlon.
«We have now created all the necessary conditions for our athletes. Specialists with proven training methodologies have been engaged. Our athletes train at leading international centers alongside top-level athletes. Comprehensive medical, biomedical, and psychological support is also in place. Following the previous season, several of our athletes confirmed their high level at world championships,» said Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports notes that 13 Winter Olympic sports are
actively developing in Kazakhstan. To prepare Olympic reserves and ensure
sustainable development of the industry, efforts are underway to expand the
sports infrastructure. Currently, there are over a thousand winter sports
facilities throughout the country. All this contributes to the development of
mass sports in Kazakhstan as a whole and also expands access to sports for young people.
